Rajiev Dhingra’s quirkily colonial comedy Firangi starring Kapil Sharma just got bigger. On Sunday the mighty Bachchan baritone was used as the voiceover for the film, making it the second colonial drama after Lagaan to feature the Big B’s baritone. Mr Bachchan has done a record number of commentaries and voiceovers for cinema as varied as Shakti Samanta’s Ballika Badhu, Sujoy Ghosh’s Kahaani, Vinod Chopra’s Parineeta, Rakesh Roshan’s Krissh 3 , Luc Jacquet’s March Of The Penguins, Ashutosh Gowariker’s Jodhaa Akbar, and Srijit Mukherjee’s Begum Jaan. Confirming his vocal presence in Kapil Sharma’s film, Big B says, “The experience of doing voice- overs is wonderful. My first -ever film-connected credit title was for the voice -over in Mrinal Da’s film Bhuvan Shome, and then several followed.” Senior AB feels blessed to have had these opportunities. “Several films, documentaries where I have contributed my voice are forgotten now. But they are a sizable number. The most rewarding voice-overs have been the son et lumiere renditions for some prestigious and important national monuments for the Government of India… Khajuraho, Golconda Fort, Gwalior Fort, Tirupati, presentation for the Punjab Museum under construction, several religious institutions. I am also vocally associated with the son et lumiere at Ajmer Fort in Jaipur for the Rajasthan Government.”Amitabh Bachchan has also done the voice-over in Satyajit Ray’s Shatranj Ke Khiladi. “I regret not getting an opportunity to work with the legend as an actor. But just a mention as a voice -over in his film is a moment of great pride for me. Also artistically, my association for the Rabindranath album and in another ballet by Tanushree Shankar has been extremely rewarding.”

Highly anticipated movie of 2017, Tiger Zinda Hai’s trailer has broken all records. Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif were said to be reprising their roles from EK Tha Tiger. As per sources, the Central Board of Film Certification want to change Katrina Kaif’s nationality in the film. As seen in Ek Tha Tiger, Katrina portrayed the role of a Pakistani spy who falls in love with an Indian Spy. After the incident of four heavily armed terrorists who entered the Uri region of Jammu and Kashmir last September killing 17 soldiers and injuring over 19 people, the Indian Film Producers took a call to stand by their country and ban Pakistani artistes from working in any Indian Films. In Tiger Zinda Hai, CBFC may force the makers of the film to re-edit the film. A source told a leading online portal that last year; Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil had to suffer a similar fate. Anushka Sharma’s character in the film was originally a Pakistani, but after the ban, the makers of the film showed her as an Indian Muslim from Lucknow. But after the surgical strikes and the escalated hostilities between the two countries, her nationality was quickly changed, and she became an Indian Muslim from Lucknow,’ the source said. The source also added that love stories based on cross-border romances are unofficially banned. “The guidelines clearly don’t allow this kind of a cross-border merger.” The first installment of the film, Ek Tha Tiger revolves around such a love story between the lead actors and their journey to survive against all odds. Although the director reveals that such a change might change his narrative of the film and thus making it difficult to re-edit the film.

On the other hand, Taapsee Pannu will be collaborating with the gritty filmmaker for the first time.
