I seem to be destined to see one more generations of stars taking over. I have seen superstars and stars like Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand and Raj Kapoor when they were still roiling and striding the industry like giants. I have seen the sons of Raj Kapoor, Randhir, Rishi and Rajiv taking their own places and establishing themselves as stars and I have seen the only son of Dev Anand, Suneil Anand trying to make it as star but not being able to make it really big but is still trying.

I have seen powerful stars like Dharmendra, Jeetendra and the greatest ever superstar Rajesh Khanna. I have seen their respective sons Sunny, Bobby and Tusshar and Twinkle making it as not so successful stars. I have seen the likes of stars like Sunny, Anil and Jackie and I have seen Anil's children's Sonam, Harshvardhan and Rhea and Tiger Shroff, the son of Jackie to make their own mark in the industry.

Bollywood is a house to many intelligent people who very well know answers to all these questions. When a filmmaker decides to make a big budget film in Hindi, his primary concern is not the story and the production value. Instead, he spends hours on end thinking about the cast of the movie. When he zeroes on some actors, he gets into the thinking mode again, calculating finances, most importantly the fee of our leading heroes who take away the biggest chunk of the budget. While our most popular stars charge a bomb, they fail to deliver the result. It is true that our films or these biggest stars make hundred and two hundred crores. But if the budget of the film is beyond 100 crores, then what is the point of their films entering 100 crore and 200 crores. If return on investment is not excellent, then no matter how much money a Hindi film makes, it would never improve the ailing health of the industry. Our stars do not hesitate in opening their mouth wide while quoting their fees, but when it comes to putting in hard work, there are only a few actors in the entire film industry who go the extra mile to get into the skin of the character. Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan are the only stars in Bollywood who ensures their producers do not lose money. While intense dedication and determination are unheard of in Bollywood, South Indian film industry is witnessing the emergence of such actors. Prabhas and Rana Daggubati are the perfect example of that new crop of actors. Prabhas gave his five years to 'Baahubali'. He did not except any work in their years in spite of facing financial crunch. He even turned down an advertisement offer worth Rs. 18 crores. Prabhas has charged much lesser than what our stars charge for a film that does a lifetime collection of Rs 90-100 crore. Now, think of our Bollywood heroes. Their grip on money is so strong that they never let go a single penny out of their reach. They do films and make millions through advertisements also. Their priority is making money through every possible channel. In this case, how one can think that Bollywood will ever be able to make a film as epic as 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion'? Till the date bigger amount of the budget is spent on a star and his starry tantrum, Bollywood will never be able to do the kind of business 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion' has done. It's time for great introspection for Bollywood.

And as I keep watching the scene like I have been in the last forty years, I can now see the rise of a next generation of stars who have just taken their first steps or are planning to.

Sunny Deol's son, Karan Deol who was waiting for his father to take a decision to launch him has already been launched by his father in "Pal Pal Dil Ke Pass" which is a line from one of Dharmendra's most popular songs from "Blackmail" directed by Vijay Anand. The father and son are being flooded with good wishes from celebrities like Rishi Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Shah Rukh Khan who have given the father and son a big boost at the time they need it the most.

There has been a great deal of talk about the launch of Sara Ali Khan, the daughter of Saif Ali Khan and his former wife Amrita Singh. For a long time, it was almost clear that she would be launched by Karan Johar who she even called her mentor, but now things seem to be changing in a big way for Sara. There is talk about her finally being launched by Ekta Kapoor, but the truth will be out only when it happens in a film which is supposed to be directed by Abhishek Kapoor.

On May 22, a director who had directed his first film when he was only twenty-three, Anil Sharma who last made a big hit like "Gadar" which remains to be one of the biggest hits till date launched his son Utkarsh before a crowd of two thousand people which included Dharmendra and Hema Malini who rarely attend public functions together and some of the leading directors of the last three decades. Anil's film is titled "Genius" and he says the reason why he has chosen the title will be known as the film which has just gone on the floors makes progress. The mahurat of the film reminded me of the good old days when every film had a grand mahurat whether the film was ultimately made or not.

And as I think of the many new faces I have seen down the years, I know that a little girl at Band Stand in Bandra, in a house popularly known as "Mannat" is celebrating her seventeenth birthday. The girl's name? Everyone knows it by now, Suhana Khan, the daughter of the King, Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan. Suhana has already told her parents about her ambition to be an actress and they have given her the freedom to follow her heart. Who knows, by the end of this year or early next year we will see the rise of one more star, a star with a very formidable legacy? Shah Rukh's son, Aryan Khan, is also expected to take a plunge in the world of glitz and glamour in a year or two.

Another popular actress who will see her daughter taking baby steps in Bollywood is Sridevi as her elder daughter Jhanvi Kapoor is all set to enamour the audience with the Hindi remake of Marathi cinema's biggest blockbuster "Sairat". Jhanvi's debut film will be produced by none other than Karan Johar under his home banner Dharma Productions. Suniel Shetty's son Aahan Shetty is also expected to enter filmdom with a film to be made by Sajid Nadiadwala. Chunky Pandey's 18-year old daughter, Ananya Pandey is also making her Bollywood debut and Salman Khan is helping her in her pursuit.

I have in my own little way predicted the future of several young men and women in all my years and my predictions have come true. I was destined to make my predictions about the third generation of stars and I can say it with all my experience that Sara, Karan, Utkarsh and Suhana have a bright future. I don't know whether these predictions come true, but if and when they do, I hope these children of a new generation will take the legacy of their parents forward with great aplomb.
