My thoughts are always original: Himanshu Sharma

The winner of two National Awards and  very passionate about his work Himanshu Sharma always tries to put something interesting and out of the box idea through his writing. Writer with three consecutive superhits like “Tanu Weds Manu”, “Ranjhanna”, and “Tanu Weds Manu Returns” and now with wonderful story of “Zero” he will definitely be one of the writer for the national awards in writer category in upcoming film awards.  The writer spoke with S.Kumar Mohan about his journey.
Let us know about your association with Aanand L Rai because most of films you have done are with him only, comment?
I have been with him since my struggling days. The reason for this is that there is a lot of comfort level with him. He never asks me to work on certain kind of story or a certain genre. We are like family members. We both discuss the ideas and then Aanand sir plans and prepares himself for the film.
Tell us how the idea of Zero came into?
I and Aanand Ji discussed in detail about how it will be to bring out the story of a dwarf on the screen and then the idea of Zero came into existence. Well I would like to leave the details for the screen. The story is the romantic drama and yes dwarf is the character. But I would like to say that it’s not the USP. You will be done with it in 30 seconds or may be 1 minute. How much can you dwell over the fact about the character of a dwarf? After that, you have to come down to the main story and that’s when the real story starts. I hope I have written a very good film as I would like to see on screen. I am in the exploring phase right now.
Are you doing any more projects, comment?
Zero that’s it! Main ek waqt mein ek film likh doon, yahi badi baat hain! Yes, there are a couple of story ideas but right now I am not doing it because I am very lazy person.
Tell us what made you take up scriptwriting?
When I was in 2nd year of graduation and was pursuing towards completing it my parents asked me to try for UPSC exams. Even I was very much interested in becoming an IAS because most of my family members were in government services. But later I realised that I will not be able to make it because it was not my cup of tea. And then I thought why don’t I try my hands into scriptwriting and thus the scriptwriting happened to me.
Share your experience as a writer for the movie Zero after the success of three superhit films?
I always wanted to work with Shahrukh Khan and with movie “Zero” my dream has come true and it was really a great experience. The Jodi of mine as a writer and Aanand L Rai as a director for this film will definitely rock the screen. I am anxiously waiting for the film and I know that the way we are waiting even the audience will be waiting desperately for it.
With every release you have raised your level, comment?
Whenever I sit for writing the story I think is  from different perspective. My ideas are out of box and I keep my audiences in mind while writing. So you can see that from “Tanu Weds Manu” “Ranjhanna” and “Tanu Weds Manu Returns” in each film I try to give a very unique flavor which makes the audience jump on their seats with laughter and sometimes with surprise .So yes I always try to raise the bar with every film I do.
